Yesterday morning saw us all chugging through snow flurried to an appointment with the specialist to get alices cast put on. We had to wait a week so that the swelling could go down, and it is probably good that it did. There were a few days there were alices hand was all purple and swollen. Ow...
The specialist was at the memorial clinic, and we love her, if anyone's children ever breaks a bone or needs surgery or anything - go to her. We were in and out in 45 minutes and felt confident and educated in what had happened.

We were able to see the x-rays for the first time and the doctor showed us where the break was and told us what the plan was to heal it. She has to be in the cast for the next three weeks, at whihc point we go in to get it removed and new x-rays taken. She gets to be in a brace after that for the majority of the time, but we need to take off the brace and exercise her arm so the joints don't get stiff and no growth is hindered.

She was a champ overall. She got all excited when we took the brace off initially and automatically went to move her arm. Her face went from happiness to horror as it began to hurt, so most of yeterday was spent on motrin. (and I HAVE NOT used the dreaded codine - I REFUSE) But once that kicked in and she ahd a good nap in her, she was back to normal, just bright pink.
